God doesn't write off the lost, and neither should we

by Mike Vandermause on November 23, 2015

All religions are not the same, but it doesnt mean we have to war against people of other faiths.

Mind The Gap is the current sermon series at Green Bay Community Church that compares Christianity to other world religions. Here are some key points from pastor Troy Murphy’s message on Sunday, Nov. 22, relating to how God views the world:

*In the book of Jonah, God instructs Jonah to go to Nineveh, where people were being tortured and killed because of their faith. This story points out the heart and character of God, who wants to bring all lost people to him. That means we can’t write off even the extremists in our world.

*Jonah didn’t want the Ninevites to be saved because of their evil ways. But God called him out for that attitude. We are to bring the message of hope to all people. God also loves extremists.

*We learn repeatedly in the Bible that God loves the worst of sinners and can use them for his glory. One of the best examples of that was Paul, who hated and persecuted Christians but was gripped by God’s love and power and became an ardent Christ follower.

*God says he loves the lost, broken and the ones that can’t tell the difference between right and left. There are a lot of places in the world today that resemble Nineveh, but God hasn’t given up on those places, and neither should we.
