Dave grew up in Wausau and met his wife, Lisa, in high school when they were assigned to play piano duets together — a partnership that has lasted far beyond the stage. After attending college in Madison, they married in 1987 and spent their first eight years in the Minneapolis area before moving to Green Bay. They have three daughters — Laura, Ruth, and Chloe — and two grandchildren, August and Harper.
He began attending GBCC at the Shawano Avenue location in 1996 and quickly stepped into serving. He volunteered in youth ministry alongside Pete App, while Lisa served in music ministry. He first became an elder shortly after Troy became pastor (around 2010) and has faithfully served in that role, taking a few short breaks over the years.
He came to faith in Christ at age 12 after hearing a sermon that clearly presented the gospel — a moment that shaped the course of his life.
He is most passionate about encouraging individuals in their spiritual journeys and walking alongside people as they grow in Christ. In retirement, he continues to serve as volunteer staff in a variety of ways, including leading summer youth adventure trips, providing pastoral care, supporting the church database, and leading youth and adult Bible studies. His involvement with the Congolese community has deeply impacted him, particularly through serving with Come to Jesus Ministries and as a board member of Sawa Sawa Collective.
Looking ahead, he is excited about how God is drawing our church closer together — both within our congregation and in our broader community — reflecting more fully the love Christ has for us.
