what are neighborhood gatherings
This Summer, we are doing something different. Instead of gathering under one roof, we’re asking our GBCC church family to be the church in their neighborhoods — hosting or attending a Neighborhood Gathering right where they live.
We’ll provide a teaching video to anchor your time together, but the real win is the conversations, connections, and relationships that happen with the people next door. This is not a day off — it’s one of the most strategic things we can do to become the kind of church that actually changes the city we love!
may neighborhood gathering
Zacchaeus was the kind of person no one in Jericho wanted at their dinner table. As a chief tax collector, he had gotten rich by exploiting the very neighbors he lived among — and everyone knew it. But when Jesus passed through town, he didn’t avoid Zacchaeus. He stopped, looked up, called him by name, and invited himself over.
That deliberate, unexpected act of welcome changed everything. Zacchaeus walked out of that encounter a different man — generous, accountable, restored. What Jesus modeled that day is simple but countercultural: transformation happens around tables, in homes, in neighborhoods, when someone decides to cross the distance that everyone else is content to leave in place.
