Why’d You Show Up Late to the Movie? The Story of a Generous God
Most people think the Christmas story begins with a baby in a manger, but they’ve walked in during the climax of a film that’s been playing for millennia. This four-week series rewinds to show God’s generous character woven throughout the entire biblical narrative—from His covenant faithfulness to Israel, through Christ’s self-giving on the cross, to the radical kingdom generosity Jesus taught, and finally to how His generosity continues to write our story today. Like any great movie, you can’t understand the meaning of one scene without knowing the plot that led there. The manger isn’t where God’s generosity begins; it’s where it reaches its stunning turning point. And the story isn’t over—we’re living in the scenes being written right now, called to embody the same outrageous generosity of the God who gave everything. This Advent, discover why the baby under the tree only makes sense when you know the whole story, and why that story demands more from us than seasonal sentimentality.
