Weekly Newsletter — October 1, 2026
HERE’S YOUR WEEKLY OVERVIEW OF WHAT IS HAPPENING AT COMMUNITY CHURCH + IN THE COMMUNITY!
highlight of the week: pray for america
Join us Saturday, October 3 from 9am–11 am for an outdoor prayer gathering on the GBCC front lawn. Come anytime and walk through at your own pace as we lift up our families, churches, schools, businesses, media, military, and government—asking God to heal, guide, and strengthen our city, state, and nation. In case of rain, the event will move indoors.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: PLEASE UPDATE YOUR GIVING!
We’re excited to share that GBCC is moving our database service from Elexio to Planning Center Online! This year-long transition is almost complete, but we need your help with the final step:
If you give online—especially if you have a recurring gift—we ask that you update your giving as soon as possible. If you have a recurring gift set up, please make the switch before your next scheduled gift so there is no interruption in your giving.
Please visit gbcc.me/give and look for the new Online Giving/Recurring Giving link, along with a helpful video that walks you through the steps to set up your giving.
If you currently have a recurring gift set up through Elexio, please be sure to cancel it after setting up your new recurring gift through Planning Center. If you need help, email finance@gbcc.me and we will get it canceled for you! This will help ensure your giving continues without interruption and prevent duplicate gifts! Thank you for helping us make this transition smooth!
no forge on Wednesday, October 7!
Due to Feed My Starving Children next week, there will be no Forge or any other activities happening in the building this coming week!!

FIRST STITCH GIVING
If you are a crafter looking for a way to give back to the community, you are invited to join us in First Stitch Giving. Inspired by the concept of First Fruits, First Stitch invites you to keep a project 'on the needles' intended for donation. We are primarily looking for items such as prayer shawls, blankets, and chemo caps to distribute to local hospitals and cancer centers. Finished items will be collected, laundered, prayed over, and labeled before donation. If you would like more information on how to be involved or to make a donation, please contact Emily at first.stitchgbcc@gmail.com.
BAPTISMS! OCTOBER 25
We’re excited to celebrate baptisms on Sunday, October 25, during both services!
Baptism is a beautiful picture of the gospel—declaring that we have placed our trust in Jesus and have identified with His death, burial, and resurrection. Going under the water represents the death of our old life, and coming out of the water represents our new life in Christ (Romans 6:1–14; Matthew 28:18–20).
Baptism doesn’t save us—it declares the salvation we have received through Christ. It’s a public way of saying, “My life belongs to Jesus.”
If you’re considering baptism, we’d be honored to celebrate this important step with you! Learn more here.
DISCIPLE 1ST + 2ND GRADERS!!
Community Kids is looking for individuals who want to influence kids for the kingdom of God! Give one Sunday a month to equip children with biblical truth, model simple prayers, and encourage them in faith. Curious what this could look like for you? Reach us at childrens@gbcc.me or complete the info here.
MEN’S FALL FISHING RESTORE RETREAT
Calling all outdoorsmen! Join a group of men for a relaxing weekend of fishing, fellowship, and time away in the beautiful Michigan Upper Peninsula. This 3.5-day retreat is based at a lodge situated on a quarter-mile stretch of the Menominee River, offering access to some of the best fishing in the UP. Whether you're an experienced angler or just enjoy being outdoors, this is a great opportunity to connect with other men, enjoy God's creation, and make lasting memories. Transportation is included as the group will travel together on the Restore bus.
CONNECT TO COMMUNITY
Join us for Connect to Community, on the first Sunday of each month. This gathering is free to attend and a great first step in getting to know GBCC. Join us from 10am–11am. Come a little early and enjoy breakfast! You’ll meet some of our pastors, elders, and staff, get a simple overview of who we are as a church, and learn how you can get involved. We’ll also answer any questions you may have. Our hope is that you’ll meet new friends, catch a clear picture of our beliefs, and discover real ways to connect.
Next Connect to Community is this Sunday, October 4 in the Offices — Sign up here.
WEEKLY GENEROSITY REPORT
Giving regularly is a way to express our love and trust in God's provision. It's not about the amount given, but the intention and heart behind it. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, "Let each one give thoughtfully and with purpose just as he has decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver and delights in the one whose heart is in his gift." As we work together to fulfill our mission in Green Bay, we want to keep you informed about our financial journey. Each week we will inform you of where we stand. For the week of September 23: • Total giving was $34,307 - about $6,078 below our target. Thank you for your commitment and passion for our church! Your prayers and contributions truly make a difference in advancing our mission and serving our community!
